What Are the Main Differences Between Netbooks and Notebook Computers

Netbooks have become very popular in the last few years. They were first introduced by Asus with the ASUS Eee Series PC. The netbooks available currently are higher performing versions of what was first available a few years ago. Intel introduced the Atom processor especially for netbooks, and smaller sized mobile computers. Many people wonder if they should purchase a netbook computer or a notebook. You may want to think about a laptop computer if you are wanting to replace your desktop or main portable computer with a portable solution and need as much computing power. You will want a laptop if you plan to run lots of applications, graphics, multimedia, games, etc.

Netbook computers are perfect for web browsing, engaging in social media, and lighter in weight applications. For bloggers, a netbook computer is both convenient, portable, and readily accessible. If you use the computer only for browsing the Net, looking at emails, blogging, or redesigning your MySpace page, a netbook computer is an excellent mobile solution for you.

If you travel frequently and need to have a lightweight, portable computer on the go, you will find using a netbook computer much more convenient compared to a notebook. It's much lighter, smaller and has a longer battery life. Go for an SSD hard disk and your netbook computer will be so light that you won't know that you are transporting a portable computer in your bag. Some netbook computers are known to last for more than 10-12 hours alone on their battery which is very tough to find on a standard notebook computer.

If you plan to play simple games, a netbook is again the perfect companion. With more advanced games, a notebook will be a better option.

If you plan to watch DVD movies on your computer, you won't be able to on a netbook computer because most netbooks do not include a DVD drive. Of course, most larger laptop computershave disk drives, and a larger screen. So checking out the latest movies, is a far better option on notebooks than on netbooks.

These are the essential differences between netbooks and notebook computers. Depending upon your personal needs and choices, these portable computers are perfect for people on the go.

i'm planning to buy it for school with the whole tax rebate thing, wel it's really my dad paying for it but still, my whole school day lasts for 6 hours, and i can't find out how long the battery life is if it's fully charged. so help please? and also the HP PAVILLION dv5-1222TX Notebook and the ASUS PRO59L-EX145 A 15INCH NOTEBOOK and the ACER ASPIRE ONE AOD250 10INCH BLACK NETBOOK, i'd like to know how long the battery life is on each of them and what they are compatable with eg. Windows Vista, Windows Xp, how many USB ports they have, how much input memory, and hard drive memory, the usual stuff, Thanks

I can help with the MacBook.
I own one, and depending on what im doing, with WiFi off, Bluetooth Off, the screen brightness down, and just word processing, i can get 5.5 hours.If im playing games, i usually get around 4, and with full brightness, wifi and bluetooth on, and web browsing, i usually get around 4.5.Other than that, The MacBook is great, and I have had no problems.Remember, there are a lot less viruses out for the mac, and most professionals use a Mac (No Bashing)
Also, if you have a problem, you can go to the Apple Store, and they will help you, but with other computers, you have to mail them in, it takes forever....etc
The MacBook has:
Ethernet Port
Monitor Out Port (They sell adapaters for diffrent things)
Firewire 400
2 USB
Audio In
Audio Out/ Speakers/ Headphones
It also has a slot to lock it to a table or something, along with the slot of the magnetic power cord.

The Graphics on that model are a lot better (5x faster) than the ones on my model, if you get that one, I envy you )

*Remember, if you really need to use Windows, you can Use Bootcamp (www.apple.com/bootcamp) to run windows on your Mac.
You can run Windows on a Mac, but you cant run Mac OS on a Windows Machine.
