using my acer aspire one d250 while charging?

i recently bought my baby aspire one d250. now according to the guy i bought it from (its from the mall mind you), i should charge it for 6 hours (i got the 6cell batt) without me using it? is this true? can't i use it while its charging?

this is my first laptop so don't get all you-should-know-this type of answer.
