What is the flashing orange light indicated in my laptop?

I have an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop. Last week, held a "re-install" to get rid of malware. Since restarting the computer, one of the backlit symbols above the top row of keys has been flashing orange every few seconds. The symbol appears either a spin or a television set.
