Charging light on laptop will not turn off?

Wondering what is wrong with my laptop. When plugged in the charging light comes on as normal, but after hours and hours (days even) of being plugged in the charging light is still on. It never turns blue (which meant it was fully charged), stays purple. Has anyone else experienced this and is there anything I can do? Or is my computer just getting old?

Hello Who;

If your with Winxp or Vista then the battery charging is controlled by the OS..

Now this may not be set up right in BIOS..
This needs to be checked first..
Careful here..
When you Boot, First hold down the F2 or F8 or what key that you first see on the screen at Boot..

It will take you into your BIOS and will be safe to look around with out making any changes..Follow the simple instructions to move to another page until you see BATTERY..Check to see if it set to "Controlled by Operating System"
If it is then the problem may be the Battery itself..
