8 Tips for stress-free international travel

People often ask me how to plan long trips abroad lasting up to 2
months. Here are my 8 point list I do for every trip:

(Yes, this information is from an American perspective as the U.S.
citizen. For our International subscribers, please share your knowledge
how things work in the same or different countries.)

1. CREATE A FOLDER OF TRAVEL. Put all relevant to your trip by
folder, as you gather items. I like to learn about the must-see historical
places (museums, monuments) the best restaurants and bars with inside information, which
holidays or special events may be happening at the same time in the city, if
any nearby wineries, and a bit about the history of the region, including
predominant forms of government and religion. The most important thing is to look
information on local practices every day to observe and show that
help me enjoy the visit as if it were local. It's all great airplane reading if
do not get to it before.

2. VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR RESEARCH: Find out as early as possible. I
We constantly hear stories of people who waited until the last minute before
learning of a visa is required and had to pay big bucks to have a

3. REGISTRATION OF YOURSELF AND YOUR TRIP WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE. First,
learned about this through the Association of Protocol with which I am a member.
I do it as soon as my itinerary is confirmed. As much as everyone complains
about "big brother" watching, when it comes to travel to other
countries, which has given me a great comfort to know that I found and what
must do to seek help from my government should a situation arise.

4. Confirm all arrangements. Confirm all details in writing with the
country contact hotel travel agency, etc. Print copies of all
correspondence that includes names and contact numbers. No Do not check this

5. MAKE COPIES OF IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS. Create a checklist of documents and make
copies of each document to be placed on each piece of baggage. Leave a complete
set of all documents in a folder called "travel documents" in the dining room
table or on your desktop. Give a copy to the person you have designated as
their "home" in case of emergency contact:
--- Passport
--- The personal contact information:
+ Full legal address and the name, address, all phone numbers
+ Other immediate family members found in the same household, such as
children and roommates
+ Destination, contact name, address, telephone and email
Addresses
--- Emergency Contact: The person back home at their disposal, including name,
and office address, all phone numbers and email addresses.
--- Travel Insurance
--- Medical Information:
+ Medical and health insurance company, including policy number and telephone
number. Learn what your policy does or does not cover when traveling
outside their country of origin.
+ Primary care and specialized medical names, addresses, all phones
numbers and email addresses.
+ Medications: List all medications prescription. They also include vitamins and
supplements.
+ Allergy: What you are allergic to, list them. I'm allergic to cats,
avocado, most of shellfish, most fish, and most nuts.
+ Vaccinations: In general, immunization cards are provided when you get vaccinated.
Take the cards with you and copies have done so.
+ Death Instructions: List basic life Will instructions designated funeral

--- Complete itinerary: a complete list of all flights and hotel
information for the entire trip.

Honestly, this may seem a lot of work, but if you take the time
to do this once, it will always ... until updates are required.

6. CALCULATE TRANSPORT COUNTRIES IN ADVANCE. During the planning
process, decide what methods will be traveling from one place to another,
either by private car, taxi, or why type of local public transport.
Today you can download the maps that clearly show how to get from one place to
the other. Especially in London, Paris, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, and
Beijing is convenient and safe to use public transport to many
places.

To get to the airport, compare the rates for renting a car or take a
taxi to your hotel on arrival, especially at nightfall. You may
be surprised to find a rental car may be less expensive than a taxi. Not
nothing worse than fighting for a taxi and baggage handling when
have been exhausted. When hiring a car, who will collect, use caution of
carry your luggage, and how to reach the hotel without getting
lost.

When traveling by taxi, where the hotel name or location, the street
address, directions, and more importantly the phone number
place (contact) for the driver, written in their mother tongue.

7. HOTEL USE ID CARDS. Upon check-in at your hotel, ask reception

mother tongue. Some even have a little map on the back to help a driver
having to return home safely. As they say: "Never leave home without it "
(That is, the hotel card.) Keep two or three cards with you at all times. If a
driver does not give back to you, you will spare parts for other trips

8. STANDARD PACKAGE ITEMS FOR EACH TRIP. My international travel have been
Four days to two months. Regardless of the duration of the trip or if I
visiting for business or pleasure, here are the standard elements that I have to
all travel:
--- Prepare a stock standard medical once you're going to have for all
future trips. I leave mine in the bag between trips. In this bag
have cold remedies, extra vitamin tablets C, floss, Listerine packs;
Tylenol, Advil, and aspirin tablets for diarrhea (Imodium and Pepto Bismol);
rubbing alcohol to disinfect wounds, two sizes of bandages, lint remover;
small bottle of hand sanitizer and packages (Purell), a small sewing kit
including scissors, nail clip, nail file, safety pins, insect repellent and
hydrocortisone small tube came out (in the case of a spill), packages Travel
sunscreen, dry eye drops, shoe shine buffer, and above all, my Chinese
Yun Chi Po pills when you get an upset stomach from eating certain foods
that are too rich for me. Whatever is important to you, this is where you
maintained.
--- An all-weather coat with a bell in case of rain, plus an umbrella when
rain is more secure. On my last trip to China in May, the weather was
uncertain, and so did the rain in a couple of days.
--- A solid color shawl width and length to be used in place of a jacket or coat in
the day or night.
--- For activities planned or unexpected evening more enjoyable, all in the package
at least an elegant suit. For men I recommend packing at least one sport
jacket and trousers, with one or more shirts and ties, depending on the length
trip. Beyond that, who cares if people see with the same team
more than once? For women, you can change look with different accessories.
Men can change their appearance with ties, a small article packing.
--- A pair of shorts and a bathing suit for prospective spa activities.
--- Sun hat for prolonged outdoor activities and glasses sun.
--- A small bottle of rum to enjoy in the privacy of your room at certain
nights.

BONUS: Pack some small gifts of assessment. For certain special people
and services, small gifts from their country of origin is often more
