HomeDistro ( www.homedistro.com ) has announced the list the 10 for the best Linux distributions for the home user. HomeDistro The purpose is to put more attention to the use of Linux on computers at home. The home PC is over 70% of the desktop market and should not be ignored by developers and remaster geeks. The site HomeDistro comments Linux distributions and ranks them for domestic use PC. This includes laptops too.
There are some surprises in this year's top 10 linux. The top of the Linux distributions are qualified the best combination of reliability, simplicity, features, and speed. This is the first year that we have the "speed" as an important factor classification. There are still millions of computers in use that were sold when the economy was booming. Many of the major recent distributions of Linux with KDE and Gnome desktop environments are slow on Pentium III and Pentium IV Celeron class teams for years.
The real surprise here is Archis years. Arch Linux distribution has always been difficult to install and configure. Archis Arch Linux does a very user friendly distribution. The main distribution of this list years are: Vector standard Linux Mint XFCE Community Edition, Archis Live CD, CrunchBang, Dreamlinux, LXDE Edition PCLinuxOS, Zenwalk, PC or Linux operating system, OS Salix (Bansai Linux), and SimplyMEPIS 8.0. You may have noticed that three of the distributions are based on Ubuntu, and three are based on Slackware Linux. Of course, Ubuntu is based on Debian.
