How would I go about repairing a laptop trackpad's dysfunctional left button?

I have a Dell Latitude laptop computer whose trackpad's left button no longer works. How would I go about fixing this button? Everything else works. The trackpad itself tracks finger motions perfectly and the right button works as well. I foresee that fixing this component may prove to be very difficult and any help is appreciated.

Oh and... NOT using Dell is the preferred method. i.e. doing it myself (replacing it, whatever).

If you're in warranty you can request that they send you the parts and no tech. Just call up and say the left button doesnt work, and that you've troubleshot it with another mouse which works fine. You can install the palmrest on your own.

If the warranty is bad, call their spare parts department and buy a replacement palmrest which you can again, install on your own.
